Patricia Williams explores the concept that creative ideas are catching. Thus, a secular love song from 1600, or thereabouts, finds its way via a Christian passion hymn scored by Bach in 1656 and a protest song by Tom Glazer in 1947 to Paul Simon’s Bridge Over Troubled Water in 1970 and American Tune in 1973. Ms. Williams further transforms the music into visual art. Some paintings in this series interpret the notes of the musical score as shape and color, while others express the music's emotional and intellectual content.
