Opening Reception: Saturday, May 3 from 3-6 pm
In The Five Elements, Susan Dykeman (a licensed acupuncturist), explores the concepts and associations related to each element that lie at the heart of her healing and art practices.
In this series, green symbolizes the bursting energy of new growth of the wood element in spring. Red carries the themes of childhood, maturation, connection, charisma and warmth to the fire of summer. Yellow represents the earth element and the nurturing, feeding, tending, harmonizing and gathering of the sultry late summer harvest season. White reveals the clarity and purification of endings and letting go in the autumn. Blue and black settle into the power and dynamism of water and the mystery, quiet and majesty of winter.
This is Dykeman’s first solo show at Touchstone Gallery.
