I Was Reminded

the dying days of summer

remind me

of a landscape with

tall palms blooming

and egrets standing motionless

there at the eastern flank

of the volcano,

a kingdom

of wildflowers in bloom 

around my house

a robin’s egg of the most perfect blue

--beloved—

we laughed there at dusk

and lived
