high, high, high

icy snowmelt water 

rushes its way

over the brim of the ridge

and under lace bridge

where a black bear

watches for a

salmon jumping up 

through the rushing water into the air

Sorry bear

no redfish in this torrent

dammed as it is

by the dam dams downstream
