Artist Statement

Using the energy of intense color and collage combined, Lantz abstracts figures to reflect mysteries in our personal, emotional and spiritual life.  The figures are large and gestural.  Their physical attitudes indicate direction:  love, hate, happiness, sorrow, desire…all parts ofthe "human condition."

Her visual language taps into personal and intuitive elements important to my work:  bold color relationships, simple forms, and the abstract quality of the painted and collaged surface itself.  Layers of paint and collage are used as metaphor to our life experiences.

Paula Lantz exhibits regularly in local, regional, and national shows. She has been a member of Touchstone Gallery since 2008, and is a studio artist at Columbia Pike Artist Studios in Arlington, VA. Her previous exhibitions at Touchstone Gallery include:
