JONATHAN FUENTES
About the Artist
Jonathan Fuentes, also known as Melenpersen, is one of Touchstone Gallery’s new fellows. His colorful works are inspired by modern art, contemporary pop culture, and his experiences as a part of the LGBTQ community. Fuentes’ belief in “taking the silly seriously” is evident in his current medium of choice, mixed media collage, where the use of unconventional materials allows for freedom of play and experimentation.
In 2023, Jonathan earned a BA in Art from the University of the District of Columbia with a concentration in Graphic Design. The same year, he delivered his first solo exhibition, Unhinged, with the support of faculty members and peers. ”Unhinged” showcased mixed media works, digital designs, and sculpture. Jonathan has continued to create since graduation and is excited to remain engaged with the DC art community.
