"Talk to Each Other.  We don’t have Wi-Fi. " This was a sign in an outdoor cafe in San Miguel de Allende, MX.
Connect/Disconnect 2 is about communication and the lack of it in our contemporary culture.   I explore this imaginatively in my Touchstone Gallery exhibition, using whimsy and rich color.
Some of the people are talking to each other in cafes and at the beach.  Others are in their own worlds, floating in the air as well as sitting under umbrellas.  Some are seated in a group with no interaction.  Although I don’t show people on iPhones, they have an unspoken presence.
As a former speech pathologist, lack of communication bothers me.  I like to observe people interacting in cafes and on the beach in Mexico and in the USA but now I only see glimmers of connection.
