AMY SABRIN
About the Artist
Amy Sabrin's work reflects her attraction to joyous colors, bold composition, and glowing light. Her abstract mixed media compositions are frequently inspired by landscapes to which she has a strong attachment, or by intense personal experiences. She works in acrylics, watercolor and collage, using collage papers she prints herself.
Amy has lived in Washington, D.C. for over 50 years. Before retiring in 2011 to devote full time to painting and traveling, she worked as a journalist with the Associated Press, and then practiced white-collar criminal defense law. She was a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP.
All the while, Amy made art. She takes her paints with her when she travels, and has painted in the south of France, Italy, Mexico, the Bahamas, and the American Southwest, as well as in and around the Washington area and Bethany Beach. Amy’s prize-winning works have appeared in juried shows at the Stone Tower Gallery in Glen Echo, the Art League Gallery in Alexandria, the Waverly Street Gallery in Bethesda, Maryland, and the Hill Center Galleries in Washington, D.C.
Amy is a juried member of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists and has a studio at City Line Studios, Chevy Chase, Maryland. She also volunteers as a docent at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Her most recent solo exhibitions at Touchstone include: Dune Road (2024), Cross Purposes (2022), Origin Stories (2020), and Fresh Take (2018).
