AMY SABRIN

About the Artist

Joyous colors, bold compositions and glowing light are the hallmarks of Amy Sabrin’s art. Watercolors - with their transparent luminosity and purity of hue - are her preferred medium.  Her works depict the quiet beauty of quotidian objects and the bolder beauty of nature, but her true subjects are light, color, pattern and shape.

Amy studied art history at Wellesley College. She moved to Washington, D.C. in 1974 to pursue a career first in journalism and then in law, and was a partner at the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.  All the while she studied painting and made art when she could.  In 2011, Amy retired from law to develop her skills as a visual artist.  She is an enthusiastic traveler, and many of her works are inspired by plein air outings in France, Italy, Africa, Mexico, the Bahamas, and the Washington region.

In 2015, Amy was selected for membership in the Potomac Valley Watercolorists. She was selected for membership in Touchstone in 2016.
