"Words as Muse" by Maureen Squires

As a calligrapher coming from a painter's background, Maureen Squires' approach to the art of written forms differs from the traditional calligrapher or painter. Maureen allows words and letters to inspire her paintings, with word choice, thoughts, and moods leading her to colors and design choices. Inspired by A Tinker at Pilgrim's Creek by Annie Dillard, Maureen's work finds meaning in the connection between words and imagery and celebrates the concepts and wordplay found in Annie Dillard's work. press release
