I am a printmaker interested in representational imagery. I create woodcuts and engravings. My work explores the past - my own past, that of our region, and that of printmaking itself as an artistic medium.
M. Alexander Gray (Alex) grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. He showed an enthusiam for drawing from a very young age.
Alex began experimenting with relief prints in his first years of college. In printmaking he found a medium that became a natural extension of his drawing style.
After graduating from the Corcoran, Alex worked a series of mostly unsatisfying jobs. However, in July of 2013, he decided to focus on his artwork full-time. His prints have appeared in galleries throughout the DC metro area. He joined Touchstone Gallery in February of 2016. He looks forward to pursuing his vocation as an artist.
