Annex Rental Information

Touchstone has three Annexes available to artists, art dealers and independent curators to rent for exhibitions.

We are currently reviewing exhibition proposals for 2008.

See below for floor plans and rates to determine your best option.

RENTERS RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING BENEFITS:

-Gallery representation for duration of exhibition

-Advertisement on Touchstone’s website

-Distribution of your promotional materials to Gallery’s press contacts and mailing list

-Participation in monthly opening reception

-No commission taken by Gallery on sold works

Annex Rental Contract/Agreement

This is an agreement between Touchstone Gallery and _                                       , hereafter referred to as the client.  Whereas, the client would like to exhibit artists, during the time period of _    _____          

                           , the parties agree as follows:

TOUCHSTONE GALLERY WILL:

1.   Provide exhibition space in Annex _____ at Touchstone Gallery to the client.

2.   Provide an image on the front page of our website with a link to additional information on our site or yours.

3.   Provide personnel during Touchstone Gallery hours to staff the Gallery, answer questions regarding the exhibition and handle sales of the art work.

4.   Provide calendar information to Touchstone Gallery's press list.

5.   Provide address labels of the Touchstone Gallery mail list to the client for use in publicizing the exhibits.

The renter WILL:

1.   Be responsible for all cost associated with invitation/announcements such as artwork, printing and mailing and any other costs incurred while doing business at the gallery (for example long distance phone calls placed from the gallery).

2.   Be responsible for all costs associated with "paid" advertisements and press releases.

3.   Provide high (300dpi) and low (72dpi) resolution jpeg images for our website and for the benefit of press should inquiries occur.  Low resolution images will be used on our website to promote your show, while high resolution images will be provided to press for printing in publications should they request images.  Artists are not required to provide the above, though all are options for the benefit of the artists and are thus recommended.

4.   List the location of the show as The Annex at Touchstone Gallery (not simply Touchstone Gallery) on all invitations and publicity material.

5.   Be responsible for all set-up, clean-up and expense for food and beverage costs for the opening reception.

6.   Prepare art work for hanging – to include appropriate presentation for a professional image.

7.   Provide the price list for the exhibition, to include titles, medium, size, and price.

8.   Deliver and hang the art work beginning at 9:30 am (unless otherwise arranged) at_                             .

9. Remove art work, spackle and paint as needed, and return the Gallery to its original condition by 7:00 pm. On _               ______ .

THE FOLLOWING TOUCHSTONE GALLERY POLICIES WILL BE IN EFFECT DURING THE EXHIBITION:

1.   Neither the client, the artists, contractors, nor patrons of said exhibit will be permitted on the premises outside of regular Touchstone Gallery hours without prior Touchstone Gallery approval.

2. Touchstone Gallery shall not be liable for any damage or for the safety or insurance of the art work during the exhibition. Touchstone Gallery carries general liability insurance, but it is the client’s responsibility to insure the art work, if desired, for the length of the exhibit.

In the event that the client fails to fulfill to the terms of this contract, Touchstone Gallery has the right to terminate the contract without refund of rent. If Touchstone Gallery cannot provide the above contracted space to the client, a refund prorated on the days the space is not available will be given to the client. In the event that Touchstone's building lease is terminated, this contract shall be void and of no effect. Touchstone will notify the client immediately should this occur and will refund any deposit.  If, for whatever reason, the client is unable to complete this contract, the client shall provide Touchstone with written notification and the contract will be cancelled after 30 days of the notification. Client shall then be reimbursed: 50% of payments made if cancellation notice is made up to 90 days prior to the exhibition.  Reimbursement will not be provided if cancellation is made within less than 90 days prior to the exhibition date.  Any controversy or claims arising out of or relating to cancellation of this contract shall be settled by arbitration in accordance with the Rules of the American Arbitration Association, and judgment upon the award rendered by the Arbitrator(s) may be entered in any court in the District of Columbia, having jurisdiction therein.

THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT BE CHANGED VERBALLY.
