Artist Statement
“My eye adjusts to be delighted by the textures and pattern presented in so many ordinary forms” Mold on the south side of an aging tree trunk, peeling birch bark, multi-toned pebbles set in patterns in the old streets of Spain, or the symmetrical tracks of cactus spines all inspire the abstract painting and manipulated photography of Ms. McInnis. With a degree in commercial art, and years spent in NYC and Washington DC advertising firms, her approach is graphic in nature. Working with mixed medium, acrylic, pastel, paper, photographic images, and “found objects” often make their way into each piece. Texture, movement, and rhythm are common elements.
Her work has been exhibited in the Washington DC area, and hangs in private homes and commercial spaces throughout the country.
