Artist Statement
Though my work is composed of many parts, each piece retains its own identity, history and implicationsboth contributory to and independent of the work as a whole; thus the content of each piece is enriched with multiple layers of meaning. I adopt a Surrealist attitude by pairing common objects like a fork and a purse in an odd setting. Then I adjust them until they fall in love and make music in a new way. By joining familiar imagery in unfamiliar ways, I provides viewers with many entry points into my work and coax the viewer into seeing reality differently.
“Drawing on a base of 20th century surrealism, Luckett creates haunting and complex mixed media portraits that evoke the histories that inform and anchor our lives.” Nancy Unger
